Grace's proved too strong in just about all areas of the game as they recorded their first win in five attempts against Washington. On winning the toss, acting skipper Mendis surprised the opposition by inviting them to bat on a hot sunny afternoon, on what looked a good hard batting wicket. The visitors were soon in trouble however as Bielby induced an error from one of the openers and Duncan Hope took a nice catch. Washington were finding runs hard to come by and wickets continued to fall at fairly regular intervals, with Bielby, skipper Mendis and Ahkter all picking up three apiece before Washington were all out for 143.
This score never looked to be enough as Grace's openers Stockinger and Hardisty put on 44 for the first wicket before both fell to loose shots in the covers. Mendis quickly followed, unluckily playing the ball onto his pad, only for it to roll back onto the stumps. Hope was then joined by Shofiq and between them they set about the opposition bowling, adding 74 in quick time with Shofiq hitting four successive sixes in one over, before being caught on the boundary attempting one more. Scott then joined Hope and they rapidly knocked off the remaining runs leaving Hope 39 not out and Scott on 18 giving Grace's victory by 6 wickets.
