Grace's CC v Walthamstow Horizontals CC, 12 June 2005

Grace's scored 209 on a difficult batting track full of cracks, with Rishafi scoring 71 not out and Mercuri 33 not out. Grace's had again won the toss and elected to bat with Stockinger (20) and Camberwell (28) putting on 48 for the first wicket, with Camberwell hitting 16 runs off one over. Page was all too brief with a glorious 29 including some fantastic off-side play and a huge six over the mid-wicket boundary, but was unluckily run out, when Stockinger smashed the ball past the bowler only to have the bowler touch it before it hit the wicket. OUT! Mendis was immediately out LBW for a duck and Stockinger followed, leaving Rishafi and Mercuri 15 overs of fun, with some smashing hot shots and some lucky dropped catches, but overall a fantastic effort on an awful pitch.

In reply, Shofiq (back in the team after quite a break) showed what Grace's had been missing, taking the first 3 wickets with some beautiful bowling, left arm round the wicket, with the ball nipping back into the batsmen, fantastic to see! However the Horizontals would not lie down, and put together an attacking partnership hitting Fawaz and Mendis all over the ground. Bielby and Rishafi restored some order to the Grace's bowling attack, before allowing Fawaz to continue and take two wickets with some very tidy bowling.
