Grace's CC v Touring Theatres CC, 29 August 2004

After a week of heavy rain, the Mill Hill Park pitch was barely playable. The weather continued to look threatening. Touring Theatres turned up late and both sides were a player short. All the usual ingredients, therefore, of an August Bank Holiday. With the match reduced to 35 overs due to the opposition's tardiness, Grace's won the toss and sensibly elected to bat.

The top order made batting look difficult however, and Grace's slumped to 36-4. Then Rishafi (31) and Page (61) put on 77 for the fifth wicket to take Grace's to respectability. Shofiq then came in and hit a quick 23 to ensure Grace's posted a challenging score in the conditions.

Another delightful tea was served and demolished. Touring Theatres got off to a dreadful start. One opening batsman drove expansively in the first over off Bielby straight into the hands of Shofiq at mid-off. Shofiq then removed the other opener, caught behind by Stockinger. Wickets fell regularly. Wingrove came into the attack and recorded his best ever figures of 3-32. Camberwell (2 - including a sharply taken caught and bowled), Page (1) and Rishafi (1) were the other wicket takers. Touring Theatres never looked like threatening our total and collapsed to 85 all out. Another victory for Grace's and the winning run was extended to eight games.
