Southgate Adelaide CC v Grace's CC, 25 April 2004

Grace's 184 all out, Southgate Adelaide 185-4. Southgate Adelaide won by five wickets.

Following the late withdrawal of Rayleigh Fairview and the unavailability of our home pitch due to wet weather, we hastily arranged a conference fixture against Southgate Adelaide. The game took place at the Walker Ground, Southgate, which is also used by Middlesex CCC. Grace's won the toss and elected to bat on a flat, hard pitch. Southgate's bowling was fiery and aggressive. Ross ducked and dived for 21 balls before being bowled for nought by Berg (who finished the game with figures of 3-16 off 10 overs). Swinburne and Rishafi ensured Grace's were not humiliated, both scoring excellent half centuries. Grace's finished their innings on 184 all out.

Southgate Adelaide proved too strong with the bat. One of their openers scored a century and there was a wicket a piece for Bielby, Howden, Rishafi and Curtis. But despite tidy bowling from the Grace's attack, Southgate Adelaide reached their target comfortably for the loss of only four wickets.
